Research paper is published | The LabDroid Maholo used for osteosarcoma drug screening
The research group of Dr. Takatsune Shimizu (Associate professor, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hoshi University) and Dr. Hideyuki Saya (Professor, School of Medicine, Keio University) published a research paper including experiments by the LabDroid called “Maholo”. By screening >1100 kinds of FDA approved drugs on osteosarcoma cells, they discovered the drug simvastatin was a novel effective therapeutic agent for osteosarcoma. Because these types of screening experiments are difficult for manual operation and less-reproducible, “Maholo” was used to perform the screening procedures with increased accuracy and reproducibility.
